Frizbee is an experimentation process in the world of everyday ceramics led by artist duo Lisa Egio & Elliot Kervyn.Born in 2016, Frizbee’s roots are in Brussels. After a detour via London and Taipei, Frizbee and its team are now based in Barrosinha, Portugal.
As well as making quirky tableware, Frizbee produces contextual installations, scenography and hosts events. Each piece is designed in-house, molded from objects found in daily life, like basketballs or car rims, and cast in reinforced porcelain. Our porcelain is fired once at 1000°C for 36 hours to transform it into a strong bisque, then hand-glazed, and fired again at 1280°C for 48 hours to reach perfect fusion.
Porcelain has a long history, originating in China over 2,000 years ago. It can last forever if treated with care.
We make our ceramics as functional as possible, with love and to be loved. They’re the ones you look to every day, that don’t end up on the sidewalk, that the kids will remember, that will be passed on through generations and, who knows, might be found intact in a shipwreck in 500 years.
They are literally made to travel through time.
What we found out:
- All our objects are 100% dishwasher safe. Yes, really!
- Dark lines in the glaze (usually caused by silverware) can be removed with Vienna lime powder.
- Stacking our items up too high for storage might cause a collapsing situation ::)
- Use them, they’ll make you happy.
